Quality and Quantity… OR Quality versus Quantity…?

Mom has freshly prepared ginger concoction for an aroma filled tea. The pervasive aroma fills the air around you and invites you for a “Tea with your mom”. Do you think of “quality” or “quantity” at this point in time?

Your toddler is toddling with small, tiny, hesitant steps forward to run through the rest of his life. Do you admire those effective small steps, or do you think about how perfect those steps were aimed at?

Your spouse travels from a foreign country (workplace) for 2 weeks, after about 3 years of anxiety separation just to spend quality time with you and family. Do you fight about the quantity that you get with your spouse or do you admire the quality time they got to figure out just to be with you?

You are the most (“looked upon”) social person in your community. You have a strong fan following across your social media presence; however, you do not have one true and loyal friend to share your heart felt emotions and to lean on during stressful times. Do you feel impressed about your social quantity then, or depressed about the qualitative aspect of mindful friendship?

In my honest opinion, you need not shift your priorities between quantity and quality. Both the aspects are as important in life as each other. In certain instances quantity takes over, while in certain others quality tops the chart. It totally depends on the mindset and mindfulness of the person that is going through those situations. We have always heard that the depth and meaning is completely felt when quality becomes the priority. Transformation and contentment is bound to be achieved with quality rather than quantity. However, both should be weighed in relative terms.

Quality and Quantity are not mutually exclusive; instead, ” both the qualitative measures” are collectively inclusive.

What is your correlation theory to connect the dots between quality and quantity? Do you weigh one on top of each other? Or do you see them with an unbiased vision?

When I was leading the Quality & Transformation Team in a FinTech IT Organization, quality was my top priority; however, there were about 40+ teams that I had to interact with quantitatively on a day-to-day basis to even get to the “qualitative” aspect. During those times I couldn’t have better understood the subtle differences without those lively & engaged interactions. Producing more along with the art of valuable delivery will contribute to both quantitative and qualitative measure.

LIFE is also filled with both the measures.

  • One cannot sip a teaspoon of “tea” and be contented with the quality it delivered. One cannot add just a day’s expenses to understand the financial state of the month in a year and be productive.
  • I cannot be thankful if I am the topper of “one” subject and fail all other subjects. Likewise, I cannot subside my hunger and feel fulfilled if eat just one apple or a banana a day.

Both quality and quantity matters equally. the subtle differences should be understood and respected.

Do you agree? Or positively differ?

A passionate young woman who has just realized her Iconic Independence, truly by leading a life, on her own – which she has only fantasized in her dreams all through these years, before stepping into a challenging role of this kind (you will get to know what this journey has been!). I have wanted to prove myself, not just in the cyber space, but the treasure-filled stage of life as well. Ask me to whom I wanted to prove? It was just to myself and not to anyone else. I for one slide into the shoes offered to me on a daily basis by the All-Pervasive! Whatever that might be! I also want to be an active player all through the blissful years that is showered and the ones that I am yet to be presented with! I am full of life and values and wish to re-create the meaning of this ‘journey undertaken’ – not just through the mere survival and existence, but by the richness of resilient thoughts to LIVE and THRIVE every moment that flashes by!

  1. Quality and quantity are complementary to each other but as one goes through the process of life it becomes imperative to give an important edge to life to achieve the purpose of life which is contentment. To understand the cosmic power and the energy that surrounds the universe
